The nougat of Montélimar is known among gourmets as the
world's best nougat. His name comes from the roman "nux gatum" which means "cake
with nuts". But in Provence the people believe that it comes from the French
expression "tu nous gates" - "you spoil us".
This nougat from Arnaud Soubeyran, the oldest nougat
manufacture in Montélimar, is made by hand the traditional way in a cauldron. It
is very rich in almonds and honey that come 100% from Provence. The result is a
soft and tender nougat extremely rich in flavour. The small nougat pieces in the
nice paper box are wrapped individually and ideal after a meal, with coffee or
as a little snack during the day.
